Biography
Dr Ammu K Radhakrishnan is Professor in Immunology at Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Monash University Malaysia. Professor Ammu obtained first class honours BSc in Biochemistry (1987) and MSc (1990) from the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Medicine University of Malaya (UM), Kuala Lumpur (1987). She completed her PhD in therapeutic immunology from the University of Cambridge, Britain (1994). Following this, she pursued a two-year post-doctoral studies at the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology, University of Oxford, Britain. She joined the International Medical University (IMU) in May 1997 and was promoted to Professor of Pathology (Immunology) School of Medicine (SOM) in 2008. Prior to joining Monash, she held the position of Associate Dean (Students and International Affairs) at the School of Medicine, IMU. Professor Ammu's main areas of research are immune-therapeutics in cancer, immuno-regulation and as well as the use of natural compounds to enhance host immune response to cancer and other conditions. She is currently supervising several research students and has successfully supervised many more. She is a life member of the Malaysian Genetics Society and Malaysian Nutrition Society as well as a Fellow of the Cambridge Commonwealth Trust and the Cambridge Philosophical Society.
